The Reactivity Program is for dogs who over-react to other dogs. It doesn't matter if they are excited, scared, aggressive, or a combination of the three. They bark, growl, lunge, whine, stare, spin, freeze, ignore you, and show general stress. Walking is not a fun outing with your dog, but instead an embarrassing minefield to avoid.

If this sounds familiar, let me help! In the Reactivity Program, I teach ways to address your dog's underlying reactivity, not simply suppress the over-the-top reactions.

The Reactivity Program begins with the Intro Lesson. It can be particularly hard to meet the base needs for a reactive dog, so this is particularly critical.

In the supported training portion, we'll be working on a few options for reactivity training. See below for a visual overview, or click here to download that graphic in a pdf.

With reactivity, we focus on the desensitization to their triggers, but we also work on teaching them to go away from things they find uncomfortable (flight cue), teaching them to pay attention to you (engagement), and teaching them general self-regulation skills.

Timing/Scheduling for Program

Most dogs are going to take longer than six weeks to really tackle their reactivity. However, after 6 weeks I find a lot of teams feel ready to continue the training on their own. Some teams tend to need 12 weeks of supported training.

I typically see dogs become significantly less reactive after 4-6 months of training, most of that being training that happens intermittently in daily life.

For timing of weekly sessions, I do find weekly sessions to be very helpful and generally don't suggest every other week for reactivity training.

Coaching or Pro Daytrain Track?

Sometimes reactivity is very dependent on what humans are around. If your dog is like this, typically Daytraining isn't particularly effective. But, if your dog is generally reactive to their triggers no matter who is around, Pro Daytrain can be effective.
